Reflexology 101
Reflexology has been around for thousands of years, but not many people know much about it.
What is reflexology?
It is a technique of applying gentle pressure to reflex areas on the feet to bring about a state of deep relaxation and to stimulate the body's own healing processes.
So basically it's a foot massage?
No. It's much more complex than that. To explain better, let's start learning about our feet.
Basic Foot Facts:
Each foot has 33 joints and has thousands of nerve endings
We have 26 bones, and more than 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments
An average American person walks 4,000 steps a day. When we are walking, our feet absorb 3-5 times our weight. Our feet work hard for us!
Why is reFlexology beneFicial for the Feet?
Central Nervous System
Feet are more receptive and responsive.
Did you know we have thousands of nerve endings in our feet? Reflexology stimulates more than 14,000 nerves when touching both feet
Circulatory and Lymphatic System
Our feet can really hurt. Sometimes we buy ill-fitting shoes, sometimes too small and wear too big of a high heel. Wearing the wrong shoes for our type of foot structure can wreak havoc. Replace athletic shoes on a regular basis.

Stress and Anxiety
Pressing on areas of the feet in a calming way stimulates the nerves, which sends a message to the central nervous system. Reflexology reduces stress by creating deep relaxation and a sense of balance and well-being.
Helps with your immune response
Medical research estimates as much as 90% of all illness is stress-related. When we don't handle stress well, the body's defenses break-down and we become more susceptible to illness and disease.
We owe our feet. They take a real beating.
Book your next reflexology appointment and your feet will thank you!
