Zion National Park
“Red Rock Country” simply comes down to one element—iron.
The red, brown, and yellow colors so prevalent in southern UT result from the presence of oxidized iron
I was only at Zion National Park for one day, so I chose to do The Narrows.
The Narrows is the narrowest section of Zion Canyon. This gorge, with walls soaring a thousand feet tall and the river sometimes just twenty to thirty feet wide, is one of the most popular areas in Zion National Park. The hike is so unique because you will be walking in the Virgin River. This can involves wading upstream an all day hike.
Another beautiful hike is Angels Landing. As the park’s most popular hike, hiking permits will be required for Angels Landing to prevent crowding.
